Rosaline Smith
In this interview, I read about George Dodge. He is from Worthington, Massachusetts. He worked as an Odd Job Man. A lot of his remising of the "Dirty Thirties" included his time spent working, and the life of an average person at the time. He also had a dog, who was his best friend. I learned a lot about life in the Great Depression. For example, people would work for nickels and dimes, and think that they were the profitable ones. Also, A lot of kids did not go to school. This was because of the need for extra help at their parents farm. Clearly, there wer lots of differences between then and now.
Part1b
This picture shows railroad workers earning a day's pay, which wasn't much. At the time, many people had to work on jobs as arduous, difficult, and grueling as this one. Therefore, a job such as this was very good. In fact, just having a job in general was very good. The worse part was that because of such a bad economy, the pay was only counted in nickels and dimes.
